Saulo Santana is known for his international award-winning editorial design and visual identity work; His realizations include the designing, redesigning and media strategy developments of publications worldwide.

In the last 15 years, he has made different contributions in the fields of print and digital for more than 30 newspapers and magazines in Europe, South America and The Middle East.

His work has been awarded and recognized several times by the The Society for News Design (USA), European Newspapers Award, ADC (Germany), Lead Awards (Germany), Esso (South America), SIP, and many others.
He has also served as a judge for The Best of Newspaper Design Creative Competition (SND) in New York.

Santana is Art Director at Axel Springer SE in Germany, where he had recently designed and redesigned various publications of the group, such as “BamS Sport” and some of Europe’s leading magazines, “Sport Bild” and “Auto Bild” (world’s biggest automobile magazine, present in 36 countries).  He is currently Art Director at Bild am Sonntag.

He was formerly Art Director at Correio Braziliense (SND World’s Best-Designed Newspaper), a daily newspaper from Brazil’s capital, where he designed and redesigned sections and products of the group.

As previous Art Director of the Spanish sports daily Marca, (launched in Brazil), he created the graphic project of the publication and worked on the development of different magazines for the group.

At O Dia newspaper, from Rio de Janeiro, he developed the digital and print editions, and created the graphic project of the magazine Digital&Tal (awarded 8 times by the Society for News Design).

He began his career as Designer of the Int. Formation Centre of O’Higgins (Buenos Aires – Argentina).

At times, Saulo lectures about news design, infographics and typography, as well as giving consulting services to newspapers and magazines around the world.
